Two-person fire stations still a dream for Kings County

Here's the real story...one person fire stations all the while the welfare department continues to grow exponentially. They are giving money away like its free over there and hiring dozens and dozens of workers. But public safety, naw, we don't have the money for that. Come on Sentinel, do a report on where the money really goes...AND WHY. None of this will change until we demand that it changes. Want more of this lunacy, keep voting democrat/socialist. -The Oracle

It's sad the people working for a living and paying the most taxes are the ones that benefit the least. We as tax payers should have the best police and fire protection and our roads suck. No give 51% of our taxes to the people (that's being nice) that leach off the system. People use to have pride and was ashamed if people knew they needed help not anymore. Get it right and give back to us the tax payers. -1justsayying

There is so much unnecessary waste in government. I know of one organization that has quarterly "meetings" in Sacramento and pays people hotel, travel, meals, etc. With today’s technology, they could use the internet and have meetings web meetings and save hundreds of thousands that could go to fund this need. These men and women are risking their lives every day and that is way more important than any meeting. I won't even discuss the waste in the welfare system...what a joke!!!!! –harleygirlUSA

Why didn't the Sentinel talk to any of the supervisors in this article they are the ones to be held accountable by the voters. Spikes didn't even have the courage to speak on the issue, he sent his underling who knows zero about how the fire department works. We want to hear from the mouths of our elected officials why they haven't fixed this yet? –newtaxpayer

Hanford City Council to oust mayor for Tuesday actions

Not within the purview of the council? HAHAHA. A council member being accused of felonies is not within the purview BWAHAHAHA. Good on Curry for being transparent for the citizens of this town. No more hiding this crap and good ol’ boys covering each other politically. Come on Sentinel. Do your job. Investigate. Report. There is a lot of smoke here. Find the fire. Dig -The Oracle

I'd like to know what citizens, other than those with a vested interest in downtown want to keep movie theaters there? There is no room downtown for a state of the art multiplex, let alone parking -Scott Steglinski

Not making comment pro or con as to this issue or the appointed mayor or the council members, I have often wondered why a city the size of Hanford does not have an office of mayor who has been voted into office by the citizens of Hanford instead of by the city council. Maybe it is time to think in new direction. -Albert Jones

Maybe Curry is just tired of seeing all the lies and knew that these issues were in fact true. Maybe he felt the public had a right to know the truth. I'm really positive Curry did this for a reason. And I also know Curry is not afraid to stand up for what he believes is right. The only reason they want to oust him now is because he isn't playing there game and being quiet and covering for anyone. That is what is wrong with the system. Too many cover ups and kickbacks. They all get them from city council to city managers. Too much waste and corruption. Curry was right to read the letters. The people need to be allowed to talk the truth and because a regular person would not be heard by walking in and saying what was read maybe Curry realized the only way to have it heard was to read it aloud. If the letters had been given ahead of time, no doubt they would have been covered up. Curry would have been forced to be quiet and he too would be guilty of the cover up. So before they out him, someone should really seriously think about what was said. The bigger problem is allowing there to be so much cover up and corruption in the office. -Sarah Smallwood
